The first of many prenatal exams

When I called to make an appointment with my OB/GYN, I told the receptionist that I thought I was pregnant. She asked me if I took a pregnancy test. I told her, "I took 3". She said, "You're pregnant." While she definitely made me laugh, I knew I needed more scientific proof! I went to the doctor that Thursday where my pregnancy was confirmed and they made an appointment for a thorough prenatal visit for that Monday. Steve and I went in Monday morning where I had my first sonogram! It was INCREDIBLE... there's a BABY in there!! Sometimes it's hard to believe something until you see it for yourself. Turns out the baby was 8 weeks, 6 days along at that point. I was already over halfway through my first trimester! This made me very happy for two reasons... I was that much closer to being able to share the news with others and I was almost to a safe(r) point in the pregnancy. I had blood work done and a counseling session and given information for a specialist and a nutritionist to see for my Diabetes. My OB/GYN didn't want to take any chances with my high risk pregnancy. Looks like any free time I have will be spent with one of many doctors! However, it's all for a good cause... When we showed off the sonogram to the family, my mom coined a new phrase that will be used from here on out: FBF (Future Baby Ferrara) :)
