Today 8/19/10 at a little over 16 weeks, I had quite an emotional day!

I felt disappointed... when I went in to my OB appointment this morning and they didn't have me down on the schedule! They inadvertently switched my name with another Ferrara. Luckily, they were able to squeeze me in but this meant I had to see the physician's assistant and not either of the doctors. I had also assumed (but you know what they say about assuming...) that I was going to get an ultrasound done today but that was not the case. I thought that at 16 weeks there was a small possibility we could find out if we're having a boy or a girl. I guess I'll have to wait a couple more weeks :(

I felt overwhelmed... when I walked into Babies R Us to begin my registry and realized how many products there were and how important this was. I had a coupon to get a $20 gift card if I opened my registry by the end of August, so I at least wanted to get started (and that $20 came in really handy to buy my body pillow to help me sleep better at night!) The first thing we looked at was breast pumps... not only were there like 5 different brand names, but there were manual or electric pumps. All of a sudden I realized that I had to do more research about certain items! Plus I didn't realize how many things were gender based. Until we know the sex of the baby, we can't register for half of the things we need. Well, we could, but we don't necessarily want the neutral stuff.

I felt excited... when we saw the clothes, the bedroom sets, the swings, and other fun baby stuff! Steve made me laugh when I was looking at some blankets and I hear behind me, "It's too small". I turned around and he was lying on one of the changing table dressers!! His explanation was that he wanted to make sure that it was good furniture and if it could hold him, it could handle the baby :) I can't wait to register for the rest!
